B. Games and Amusements:
1. Wrestling:
In the olden days, wrestling in Batanes was much liked by the people both young and old alike.
On moonlit nights, boys in Basco used to meet at the seashore and have wrestling matches. Each district selected the best wrestlers among themselves to match the representatives of the

other districts.
On town fiestas, the selected best wrestler in each district represented them in the wrestling matches in the public plaza. The winners were not given prizes but were looked upon as great men.
During inter-town meets, the best wrestlers from the southern towns came to Basco. Usually, the wrestlers from Uyugan and Ivana were most of the time selected best wrestlers because of their strength and technical abilities. Usually after the matches, the losers suffered severe physical damage. Sometimes, they became invalids.
2. Row-Boat Races:
Another very popular game in Basco is the tataya (small native boat) race. In this tataya race, there are two things to be considered upon.
a. The strength and resistance of the rowers.
b. Skill and ability in boat (tatay) building.
As a result of these tataya races, Basco tatayas are found to be especially made for speed.
3. Bullfights:
On Sundays, young people bring their bulls to a designated place where they can have their bullfights. They are usually brought to Basco for a contest. These matches are really very interesting. Bullfighters from other towns are followed to Basco by the owners, and some people and some people from the towns where they come from just to witness the fight.
4. Cockfighting:
It is an old favorite game of both the old and young. It is done on Sunday afternoons.

5. Dancing and Attending Programs:
