The collection and compilation of historical data regarding the barrios and the town of Urdaneta was, indeed, an arduous one. Partly in fulfilment of the expressed desire of the President of the Philippines and largely in compliance with the provisions of B.P.S. Memorandum No. 34, s. 1952, the administrative and supervisory school officials, in collaboration with the teachers in the District of Urdaneta, took laborious pains to achieve what now appears as a modest beginning of historical resource for this municipality. To Mr. Mariano O. Hidalgo, Principal of the Central School, has fallen the difficult task of arranging the materials to its present form. To the principal of Lananpin, Cayambanan, and Bactad, as well as to the Head Teachers of Badipa, Cabaruan, Cabuloan, Camantiles, Camanang, Catablan, Labit, Nancalobasaan, Nancayasan, Palina East, Palina West, and San Jose are due my warmest appreciation for their collective spirit for group action in making possible this compilation. To Mr. Asterio C. Daligdig belongs the credit of transforming the manuscript form of the materials into typewritten form.
