I. Part One - History

1. Present Official Name of the Town or City:

Teresa was formerly a barrio of Morong named after the patron saint of the town, "SANTA ROSA DE LIMA." As a sign of gratitude to the unselfish services rendered by the attorney who defended her cause, the townspeople changed the name from Santa Rosa de Lima to Doña Teresa, the attorney's mother.

Teresa commands an excellent view of the beautiful Laguna de Bay. Hunting is a favorite game in the territory. The territory of Teresa has an area of 11,678 hectares. It has three small barrios isolated from the town. They are Prinza, Pantay, and Buhañgin.

The most important industry of the people in this town is farming. Marbles are manufactured in this town, too, because there is a marble mine owned by Elizalde amp; Company.

3. Date of Establishment:

In the year 1880, during the Spanish regime, this town was under the jurisdiction of the Province of Morong, and an independence was granted. The government of Morong in 1883 erected a cemented post in Bulak to show the boundary of the land given to Teresa.

4. Names of Persons who Held Leading Official Positions in the Community, with the Dates of their Tenures, if Possible:

The persons responsible for the separation of the barrio of Teresa from the pueblo of Morong were Mr. Esteban Santo Domingo, Mr. Pio F. Santos, Mr. Raymundo Francisco, Mr. Mariano Celo Francisco, Mr. Diego P. Cruz, Mr. Miguel Munti Cruz, Mr. Santiago Paiñgo Cruz, Mr. Gavino Ramos, Mr. Platon Gonzales, Mr. Saturnino Francisco, Mr. Francisco Natividad, and all other town officials helped the abovementioned officers.

In the year 1883, the new government of Teresa was established. Mr. Platon Gonzales was assigned as captain gobernadorcillo to take charge of the said town and took his oath for his position in the same year.

The appointed gobernadorcillos of Teresa from 1883 to 1900 were the following:
