Be that as it may – at times, these spots cannot be cured by physicians, so the parents submit to the "magtatawas." He gets an egg and rubs it on the child's feet, palms, forehead, and stomach. Ang mga aliwan ng mga tao, mababae o malalake man, ay ang "pandanggo." Sa saliw ng gitara ay nag-aawitan at nagsasayawan ang isang babae at lalake na may sunong na baso na alak.

(Men and women amuse themselves by singing and dancing the "pandanggo." A pair dances with a glass of wine on the girl's head.)

Sa matatanda naman ay ang pag-awit ng mga "kurido" at "pasyon" ang tangi nilang aliwan.

(Among the old ones, they love to sing and read the "kurido" and the "pasion.")

a. Nagtanim ako ng dayap sa gitna ng dagat, marami ang nagsihanap, iisa lamang ang nagkapalad... Pagliligawan.

(I planted a lemon tree in the middle of the sea; many have looked for it but only one had the chance to locate it... Courtship.)

b. Ang dalawa ay tatlo na; ang maitim ay maputi na; at ang bakod ay lagas na... Matanda.

(Two have become three; black has gone white; and the fence has been turned down... Old man or woman.)

c. Pantas ka man at maalam, angkan ka ng mga paham, turan mo kung ano ang bapor nating sa katihan ay walang pinaglalagyan kundi ang gamit nating mahal... Plantsa.

(Wise and learned you may be, mention the ship that lodges on everything dear to us... Iron.)

d. Nagsaing si Judas, kinuha ang hugas, itinapon ang bigas... Gata ng niyog.

(Judas prepared to cook rice, he got the rice water and threw the rice... Coconut milk.)

e. Ako ay may kaibigan, kasama ko saan man, mapatubig ay di nalulunod, mapa-apoy ay di nasusunog... Anino.

(I have a friend [who goes] wherever I go, in water, he does not drown and in fire he does not burn... Shadow.)

f. Di naman isda, di naman itik, nakakahuni ang bibig. Maging sa kati, maging sa tubig, ang huni ay nakabubuwisit... Palaka.

g. Hugis puso kulay ginto, mabango kung amuyin, masarap kung kanin... Mangga.

k. Lumalakad ay walang paa, lumuluha ay walang mata... Pluma.

(It walks although it has no feet, it cries although it has no eyes... Foundatin pen.)

l. Dahong pinagbungahan, bungang pinagdahunan... Pinya.

(Leaf on which a fruit grew, fruit on which the leaf sprung anew... Pineapple.)

m. Nang hinulog ay gagabinlid, nang hanguinko ay ganggahihip... Labanos.

(When I dropped it, it was very tiny; but when I got it, it was as big as the stove blower... Radish.)

n. Sa init ay sumasaya; sa lamig ay nalalanta... Akasiya.

(It cheers up under the sun and withers when the cold comes. Acacia.)

o. Kandado roon, kandado rito, kandado hanggang sa dulo... Kawayan.

(Lock here, lock there, lock everywhere... Bamboo.)

p. Aso kong si Pantaleon, lumukso ng pitong balon, umulit ng pitong gubat bago nagtanaw dagat. Sunkahan.

(My dog Pantaleon jumped seven holes and seven forests before he sighted the sea... Sunkahan)

q. Tubig na pinagpala, walang makakuha kundi munting bata... Gatas ng ina.

(Blessed water it is that only little children can get it... Mother's milk.)

r. Mataas kung nakaupo, mababa kung nakatayo... Aso.

(It is tall when it sits but short when it stands... Dog.)

s. Kung pabayaan mo ay mabubuhay; kung himasin mo ay namamatay... Makahiya.

(When you leave it [alone], it leaves; but when you tend [to] it, it dies... Makahiya plant.)

t. Naunang umakyat, nahuli sa lahat... Bubong.

(It was the first to climb but it came the last of all... Roof.)

u. Hindi hari, hindi pari, nguni't nagdadamit ng sari-sari... Sampayan.

(It is not a king; neither is it a priest; but it wears various kinds of clothes... Clothesline.)

v. Kitang-kita ang nakamatay nguni't hindi pa matalian... Hangin.

You saw [who] the murderer was, but you cannot tie it... Wind.

w. Maputing parang busilak, kalihim ko sa pagliyag... Papel.

(It is white as snow and it acts as my secretary in my correspondence... Paper.)

x. Nagsaing si Kurukutong, kumukulo ay walang gatong... Bula ng sabon.

(Kurukutong is cooking, even though there is no fire, it is boiling... Soap bubbles)

y. Haba mong kinakain, lalo kang gugutumin... Purga.

(You get hungrier and hungrier as you take it... Purgative.)

z. Munting bundok, hindi madampot... Ipot.

(It is a small mountain that cannot be picked up... Chicken feces.)

a. Ang kasipagan ay kapatid ng kayamanan. (Industry is the sister of wealth.)
b. Pagkaraan ng ulap, lilitaw ang liwanag. (After the clouds come the light.)
c. Ang matibay na kalooban, lahat ay nagagampanan. (A strong will tackles everything.)
d. Kapag ang tao'y matipid, maraming maililigpit. (When one is thrifty, he can save mucn.)
e. Kung ano ang masama sa iyo, huwag mong gawin sa kapwa mo. (Do unto others as you would like others to do unto you.)

Noong unang panahon, ang pagtatantiya ng "oras" ay ginagawa sa pahula-hula lamang kung minsan. Ang iba naman ay sinasabi ang oras sa pamamagitan ng tayo ng araw at ng mga anino. Ito ay totoo lamang kung araw, kaya at kung gabi naman ay sa tayo naman ng mga bituin nila sinasabi ang "oras." Ang isa pang "orasan" sa gabi at sa madaling araw ay ang tilaok ng tandang.

(During the early days, telling the time was a matter of guesswork. The people measured the time by the position of the sun in the sky and the shadows that are cast. This was possible only during the daytime, so at night, they guessed the time from the positions of the stars. This was rather a rough method, but even then, it helped the people greatly. Another way of telling the time at night and at early morning was by the crowing of the cock.)
