109. JOSE BUENAVENTURA - The "hunos" was abolished. The "Casa Municipal" was constructed. Stone, gravel, sand, and rock lime were used in the construction. This was what people in the locality called "Ang Tribunal na Bato." - 1703
110. JOSE MATEO DE LUNA - It was during his incumbency that there was a solar total eclipse which lasted for several hours. This happened at midday for three hours. - 1704
111. BARTOLOME MARCELO - The judge in the locality was Don Francisco Palacio. Many soldiers, the "Casadores," from Manila arrived here. - 1705
112. MATEO DE MONTOYA - There was an epidemic of smallpox in Lucban. Many succumbed to the disease. A very destructive typhoon passed this place. - 1706
113. BARTOLOME DE LA CONCEPCION - The "hunos" system was revived. There was a very poor harvest in the town because the palay was attacked by pests. There was famine in the locality. - 1707
114. PEDRO DE LA CRUZ - The judge was Antonio de Valle. Father Guardian ordered the whipping of those who failed to go to church. It was the rule in those days to call the names after the Mass, and those not called were ordered to appear to be whipped. - 1708.
115. FRANCISCO DE LEON - Governor Don Martin Urena Conde arrived. - 1709
116. JUAN BALLESTEROS - General Domingo Salvador returned to Spain. A box of money was lost and was found behind the "horno ng bayan." The parish priest was Fr. Juan Abril. - 1710

118. ANTONIO DE SAN JOSE - Judge Antonio Bautista murdered Juan Bautista Fermot y Carrera. Soliman from Jolo and some companions and two women were caught by the townspeople of Polo and Pagbilao. The tribunal of the town hall in Lucban was made concrete. - 1712.
119. LUIS BUENAVENTURA MAGSANGGALANG - The judge was Don Jose Arevalo. There was a sun [solar] eclipse for more than three hours during midday. - 1713.

121. LAZARO MARTINEZ - The stone arch of the wooden door of the church was constructed. The judge was D. Francisco Valle. Smallpox spread and a strong destructive typhoon occurred. - 1715.
122. ANTONIO MANALIG - There was very little rice harvcest due to plant pests. The price of rice became high. - 1716.
123. JUAN HUERTA - Governor Fernando Bonille y Bustamante arrived here. The judge was Don Fernando Melendres. - 1717

134. ANDRES MARCELO DE LA CRUZ - The people suffered from a great scarcity of food. Many got sick and died. Thank God this did not last long, and aid was received from foreigners. - 1728
135. JUAN CRISOSTOMO DE LEON - The sacristy of the church was constructed. The padre guardian was Fr. Genes Sanchez. The "Libro de Caja" of the town was lost. - 1729
136. BUENAVENTURA DE LA CRUZ - The church sacristy was completed. - 1730
137. BARTOLOME DE LA CRUZ - Smallpox spread like wildfire. The judge was Don Francisco Cadeño. - 1731.
138. JUAN DE LA CONCEPCION - In the night of April 10, 1732, the church was burned. The fire started in the sacristy. The convent was spared. - 1731
139. ANTONIO DE LUNA - The reconstruction of the church was completed in four months. On All Saints' Day, the Mass was said in the newly reconstructed church. Many priests who attended gave alms because the church was bare of ornaments. - 1733
140. FRANCISCO DE LOS SANTOS - Completion of the roof of the part of the church leading to the sacristy. Ordered the cutting of wood for the "retablo." - 1734
141. JUAN POLAR - Fr. Sebastian Saavedra ordered wood for the construction of the collateral. - 1735
142. BUENAVENTURA DE LOS SANTOS - The boxes of the sacristy and the chandeliers of the "retablo" were made. - 1736
143. JOSE MATIAS PALAD - The "casa comunidad" of the town was constructed but was later demolished by Capt. D. Juan de la Concepcion. - 1737
144. JUAN ZUARES - The stone passage of the churchyard was laid. - 1738
145. SANTIAGO ORACION - Fr. Ynes Cathos ordered the completion of the sacristy. Governor General D. Gaspar de la Torre paid a visit here. - 1739
146. LORENZO S. BUENAVENTURA - Three hundred (300) people died of smallpox. Arrival of the Siyao, who lived here for a long time. Five of them died. The judge was Mr. Antonio Fernandez Lucena. - 1740
147. LUIS DE LA CRUZ - Smallpox spread among children. Many people died. - 1741
148. LAZARO MARTINEZ SANTIAGO - At 4 o'clock of Saturday, January 12, a strong earthquake caused the falling of many concrete parts of the church. On the 14th of the same month, there was a fired. - 1742
149. BUENAVENTURA DE LOS SANTOS - The convent was remodeled. The provincial priest, Fr. Melchor de S. Antonio, did not permit the demolishing of the church. Fr. Jose Celis was the "padre guardian." - 1743
150. LUIS LAZARO SANTIAGO - On Tuesday, Sept. 7, a big fire at the northern portion of the town burned 89 houses. Only 44 were left. The judge was Mr. Ruano Calvo. - 1744
151. DIEGO DE LOS SANTOS - A big fire in the southern portion of the town burned 83 houses, including 8 newly-constructed ones which were purely of wood. - 1745
152. BERNARDO ENRIQUES DEL CASTILLO - Bishop Fr. Pedro Martinez de Sala passed here. Missionaries arrived here. The "padre guardian" was Fr. Lorenzo de Sta. Maria. - 1746
153. BARTOLOME DE LOS SANTOS - The Archbishop of Manila, Fr. Pedro de la Santisima Trinidad, with many priests, paid a visit here. Two companies of Mexicans passed here. - 1747
154. LORENZO DE S. JOSEF - There was trouble among young men and women. - 1748
155. LUIS DE S. JOSE - Fr. Francisco Rosado y Brosas continued the construction of the church. On the 28th of December, it rained with ashes and sand to the thickness of more than one foot due to the eruption of Taal Volcano in Batangas. 1749

156. SANTIAGO PILI - Election became disorderly. What came out were according to the wishes of the priest, Fr. Francisco Rosado. What the people liked was Mr. Bernardo Bonifacio. - 1750
157. ANTONIO TIMOTEO - The school was constructed in front of the convent. On Saturday afternoon, January 12, an extremely strong earthquake, which frightened all the people, caused the demolition of many churches. On the 14th of the same month, there was a big fire. - 1751
158. LUIS BLAS SANTIAGO - The "guardian" was Fr. Francisco Bernardo. The school building, which was made of stone, was constructed. The wooden "tribunal" was destroyed. - 1752
159. LORENZO DE S. BUENAVENTURA - Judge Jacinto Rodriguez appointed a "Tent. 20." (Teniente Segundo) - 1753
160. JUAN ANDRES DE LA CONCEPCION - Placed a boundary at Malinao between Lucban and Majayjay. - 1754
161. BENITO DE LA CRUZ - A big pestilence (salot). Taal Volcano erupted. - 1755
162. JUAN BONIFACIO - Mr. Gregorio Pascual, "Juez Mayor," found evidences about the Majayjay Road. - 1756

165. JOSE DE LOS SANTOS - An annex to the church was constructed. The bishop lived for a long time. - 1769

167. BERNARDO BONIFACIO - The "guardian" was Father Santiago de la Cavera. Smallpox. - 1761
168. LUIS S. BUENAVENTURA - The judge was Mr. Jacinto Morales. - 1762
169. JUAN BONIFACIO - Many Spaniards lived here. A "teniente gobernador," a chief of the Spanish soldiers, and Franciscan priests lost their money in the amount of ₱24,396.00. It was stolen. A part of it was found after a very close and rigid investigation. The road to Ayuti was constructed. - 1763
170. JUAN DE TORRES - The "guardian" was Fr. Miguel San Victoria. A big number of Spaniards came. There was a big pestilence. A strong typhoon caused the deaths of two persons — one in the barrio and other one in the tribunal. - 1764
171. LUIS DE LOS REYES - Father Gregorio de la Concepcion was the priest or "guardian." The stone bridge in Ayuti was constructed. Juez Mayor Gregorio Pasasid managed the winning over the trouble about the road to Majayjay. Spent ₱80. - 1765
172. GERONIMO DE LOS SANTOS - The flow of the Camatian River was directed to the rice fields. The judge was Mr. Francisco de S. Juan. Streets were repaired and improved. The present Quezon St. and Gen. Luna St. were made wider. Mayon Volcano in Albay erupted. 1766
173. JULIAN ENRICO DE LEON - Sr. Obispo Fr. Antonio de Luna twice passed here from Spain. - 1767
174. ANTONIO MANALIG DE LOS SANTOS - The roads to Tayabas and Mauban were constructed. The tribunal was made bigger. The "cabeseria" was made 86 in number. 1768
175. JUAN S. BUENAVENTURA - The "Casa Real" was completed. The church tower was constructed. Ordered the cutting of 150 "trozos" and the burning of lime for the construction of the convent. While the teacher was Capt. Juan Bonifacio, the "guardian" was Fr. Nicolas Regalado. - 1769
176. JUAN CORTEZ - The convent was repaired. Ordered twice the burning of lime for the completion of the tower and streets in the town. Many children died of smallpox. Fr. Santiago de la Cabeza was the "guardian" or priest. - 1770.
177. FRANCISCO FAUSTINO - The church ceiling was put up. The judge ordered the imprisonment of the captain because the palay belonging to the "Caja de Comunidad" was not given to him

(judge) by the people. Great starvation was suffered by the people. The price of rice rose to as high as ₱0.10 a ganta, which used to be ₱0.30 a cavan ordinarily. The "guardian" or priest was Fr. Pedro Pio. - 1771

204. INOCENCIO JOSE PATRICIO - Fr. Jacinto Curia ordered the building of a small house near Camatian due to the news that the English were coming. - 1798

206. JUAN BAUTISTA DE STA. ROSA - The lime got wet. The Capitan paid for it but the "cabezas" refused to accept it. - 1800

214. BARTOLOME DE S. MIGUEL - A crucero was again built in the church. Captain Tiago of Atimonan was the teacher. On August 24, the day of the fiesta of S. Bartolome, it rained with sand to the thickness of one finger's width (dali) due to the eruption of Mayon Volcano in Albay. The first distillery was established. - 1808

216. JOSE MARIA BONIFACIO - Rice became scarce. The price per cavan rose to as high as ₱25. Many suffered hunger. When the supply of bananas, camotes, and corn was exhausted, even the "sakua" of bananas and the bud of "ubod" of papayas were sauteed and used as food. When everything was consumed and no more could be found, blankets were dragged along in the fields to gather "amor seco" or "mangkits." These were toasted and cooked like rice. 247. MIGUEL DE S. BUENAVENTURA - Under the leadership of "Hermano Puli" (Apolinario de la Cruz), the "Cofradia de San Jose" was organized. Because they were investigated by authorities, they were forced to go out of town and to the barrio of Isabang. When the authorities had learned that his followers were increasing

rapidly, an order of arrest was issued and, as a result, 1,895 people lost their lives. Hermano Puli escaped with his companions. At last, he was captured, tortured, and executed. His body was divided into 4 parts. While the head was placed in a cage and was exhibited in the town square, the hands and feet were separated from the body and placed on poles at the outskirts of the town. - 1841

253. ANTONIO PIOQUINTO DE S. ANDRES - The arch under the corridor near the Patio was constructed. The government ordered the changing of family names which were Christian names at the same time. - 1847
254. SIMEON DE RAMOS - Stopped the burying of the dead in the Patio, and transferred this to the present cemetery in Ayuti. - 1848

256. PEDRO DE S. MIGUEL - On May 22, Fr. Manuel Sanchez ascended the mountain with many companions. The next day, Fr. Severino followed with 47 others. They stayed there for 3 days. The people laid the road leading to the summit. - 1850
257. ANTONIO VELUZ - On Monday, Jan. 13, the road to Mauban was opened. The Arco Bridge had been started for 6 months and was finished in 3 years under the management of the "capitan." - 1851
258. VENANCIO CADA - On Sept. 1, after the Ave Maria, a very strong earthquake was felt. Tax was increased. - 1852
259. FAUSTINO SALVATIERRA - Mayon Volcano erupted. People thought it was the end of the world. - 1853
260. APOLINARIO BARCELONA - On Feb. 12, the "Cerojo" of the Princesa Bridge was consecrated or made sacred. Many people from Lucban and Tayabas, with many priests and Spaniards, attended. The provincial governor, Mr. La O, was also present. - 1854
261. PIO DEALINO - Measles (tipdas) epidemic. Many children died. At 3 o'clock of March 7 (Friday), the arc of the Camatian River was destroyed and fell. - 1855
262. FRANCISCO VILLASEÑOR - Aug. 16, the corpse of Fr. Victorino Moral was buried behind the sacristy. May 3, the Camatian River Bridge was made sacred. - 1856
263. EUSTAQUIO SALVACION DE LUNA - The Majayjay Road was opened for use. - 1857
264. JUAN ABCEDE - June 30 (Wednesday), a strong earthquake was felt while Fr. Jose Cuesta was halfway with his Mass. Many people went out of the church. Oct. 2 - a comet was seen going from west to east. It disappeared on the 12th or 13th of the same month. The full moon was seen at 7 o'clock of one Thursday. It was red as blood. - 1858
265. JUAN RADA - On Friday, Sept. 9, a big fire, which was started from the northern end of the "Daang Mauban," set the town into conflagration, burning more than 1,600 houses. Only those houses in Lual and along the road to Pagsipi, which were only about 100, were spared. A strong typhoon swept the town from Sept. 17 to 25. This was repeated sometime in November. - 1859
266. BERNABE DEVANADERA - The reformers were obliged to patrol while there were still a few huts in town. Four guard houses in town were constructed. Ordered those rendered homeless by the fire to build new houses. In the morning of Palm Sunday, while the traditional procession was being done in the patio, the tongue of the church bell fell. Fortunately, no one was hit. - 1860
